Loren Pettys began teaching in Broken Arrow in 2004. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Centennial Middle School. Prior to coming to Broken Arrow, he served in Sapulpa Public Schools and at First Christian Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

For over 35 years, Mr. Pettys’ ensembles have consistently received Superior ratings at both district and state contests. In 2013, his Centennial Middle School Advanced Band was selected to perform as an Honor Ensemble at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Convention. Personally, Mr. Pettys was chosen as the 1989 ASBDA Outstanding Young Band Director for the State of Oklahoma, the 2008 Legacy of Compassion Award winner and was the 2009 and 2019 Teacher of the Year Award winner at Centennial Middle School. He is also an NAJE Louis Bellson Award recipient.

Mr. Pettys has been married to his wife Traci for 43 years.  They have 4 children and 4 grandchildren expecting a 5th granddaughter in July, 2024.  His hobbies include all things fun from model trains, yo-yo’s, balloon animals, slot cars, kites, etc.
